About Romy

Romy is the last person to read anything before it goes live. She works from Hamburg in German and English, and hers is the job that decides whether a piece is actually finished or merely written.

Her degree is in German Studies and Media Communication — professional writing, editing, linguistics and digital publishing. What pulled her towards SEO was an overlap she kept noticing: most of what makes writing clear is also what makes it discoverable.

She started on German-language web content, editing and proofreading before she was writing — an unusual order, and a useful one. Four years on she writes across all three service areas and reviews everything the agency publishes.

Background

How she got here

Education

Bachelor’s degree in German Studies and Media Communication — professional writing, editing, linguistics, digital publishing and audience-focused communication.

Early work

German-language web content: proofreading, article editing, blog writing and content quality control — the craft side, before any of the search side.

Into SEO

Search-focused writing in practice: content structure, keyword placement, headings, readability and topical coverage, learned on live pages rather than in theory.

Now

Editorial review for everything Infinity Linkers publishes, plus long-form writing across on-page, off-page and content, in both languages.

Her role

What she does at Infinity Linkers

Every article passes through Romy before it publishes. She checks the facts, the structure, the claims and the tone, and sends work back when it is not ready — more often than the writers would like.

Her order of operations is deliberate: clarity and reader experience first, then search optimisation applied to a piece that already works. An article optimised before it is readable is an article nobody finishes.

She also keeps the style guide. Several people write for Infinity Linkers, and it is her job that the result reads as one voice rather than five.

Approach

Written for people, then tuned for search

Working in two languages has made Romy sceptical of translation as a shortcut. A German page and an English page on the same topic are not the same page: people search with different phrasing and expect to find different things, and a straight translation usually serves neither audience well.

Away from the work she reads literary fiction, keeps a journal, is usually learning another language, and spends her weekends in contemporary art exhibitions or walking historic neighbourhoods with a camera.
